My September writing regimen
I’ve been writing on Medium since January of this year, and it’s been a great experience so far. Knowing that there’s a potential audience out there that still likes to read long-form articles — especially in our media-drenched culture — encourages me to perfect my writing skills and come up with new and compelling ideas.
I think the next step in my development will be to increase my output. My biggest problem as a writer is that I’ll get stuck on specific articles, either not knowing what direction to take them or how to organize them properly. This is a pretty insidious form of writer’s block because most of the content’s already on the page: it’s just a matter of making it good enough to be published.
For that reason, I want to start publishing daily articles on this platform. I hope that this will keep my current followers interested and introduce me to new ones (so far, I’ve been averaging a modest 10 per month). But more than that, I hope that this habit will make me better at coming up with an idea, writing it out on the page, and editing it so that it’s ready to publish—all on a 24-hour deadline.
The question is: what’s a consistent source of content that will help me achieve this ambitious goal? During down time at work, I’ll often scroll through my Google News feed, which is conveniently located right beneath the search bar whenever…
